Psalm 23

1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He makes me

lie down in green pastures.
He leads me

beside still waters.

3 He restores
my soul.
He leads me
in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

(His destination for you each day):

5 He prepares
a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
he anoints my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

6 Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell
in the house of the LORD
forever.
What Daily Destination
Does The Good Shepherd have in Mind for You?

We experience the new birth when "Jesus knocks at your door and you hear His voice and open the door. He comes in and sups with you and you with Him." (Revelation 3:20) From there He becomes the Good Shepherd who prepares His Table for you, each day.

I personally like to re-invite the Lord to re-enter my life every day. By opening the door to everything in my life each day, keeping in mind that my table is now His. Its where I turn everything over to Him and leave it there. I prepare by placing a piece of bread and a sip of wine there, Then I give thanks and with empty hands surrendering everything to Him!

"Lord, I open the door of my life and you and ask you to come in and dine with me. I thank you Lord for your blessings and love. Thank you for dying for me and for forgiving all my sins. I give you all my cares and concerns and leave them in your presence."

Then, after giving thanks I ask His blessing on the Bread and it miraculously, received in faith, becomes His Body and the Wine miraculously, received in faith, becomes His Blood. (John 6:53-56)

By thanksgiving and prayer we enter His presence. At His Table, your bread becomes His Flesh, your wine becomes His Blood and He opens your eyes to recognize Him and your ears to hear His voice.

Your destination each day is to dine with Him physically and spiritually. There, just feed upon Him and in His presence receive all that He has prepared for you.

Prepare a small piece of bread and a small sip of wine and place it where you meet with Jesus.

Commentary on CommunionFire in Psalm 23: Where Does The Good Shepherd Lead Us

How does the Good Shepherd lead us? He becomes your Shepherd when He dines with you. When you place everything in front of him you trust Him to tends to your every need. There is no need you cannot lay down before Him. He wants everything in your life so that He can show you His more excellent way. With Him you have no needs! None! Jesus becomes your primary care giver, life giver and love giver. He is all you need. He is your everything.

Then He make you lay down. He knows your tired and what you need so He makes you lie down to feast on His green pastures and drink from His fresh springs of His living water. As you do, He is restoring you to become the person He made you to be. He is taking you as you are, where you are for who you are to bring about your transformation to become fully the person He intended you to be. His love floods and conquers casting out the old and bringing in the new. His glory reveals His presence and His fire purges what is not of Him and purifies that which is of Him. Restoration happens through transformation. All things become new when we are with Him.

The "rest" oration process begins with resting and feeding. Then He gives you strength, faith and desire to follow Him in paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Jesus wants to walk with you and talk with you and let you know you are His own. He wants you to know He loves you intimately and personally. Fellowship with Jesus you get to know all of His names personally. You get to know Him as your Savior, Lord, Baptizer, King, Healer, Provider, Deliverer and Protector. Its all about Him sharing His life, love, peace and joy with you.

Even going through tough times and times that feel like your walking through the valley of the shadow of death He lets you know you can take feel secure with Him enveloped in His comfort. He leads us and protects us. With the lower half of His staff He chases away all that is evil. With the top he gently nudges you in the right direction. But where is He leading you? What destination does He have in mind?

He has prepared a Table before you in the presence of your enemies. He leads you. He invites you to sit down. He provides the meal and then you find out He is the meal. He brought you here to feed upon His glorious presence. We are always surrounded by our enemies - but it is at His Table we see those things that distract us from Jesus. We learn to recognize what and who the enemy is. His Table becomes the equalizer in our life. It is there that His presence transforms us from what is temporary to what is eternal. It is at His Table that He gives us life and our eternity begins and will ultimately raise us up in the last day.

By this He wants to make you a part of His Story. When you eat of the physical bread, He turns it into His Body, His Flesh. When we eat, He opens our spiritual eyes and we recognize Him. That's what Psalm 23 means when He anoints your head with oil (we encounter Him as He reveals Himself to us in a personal way). Its like the bread has His DNA. His flesh becomes a part of you. He is the Word made flesh.

Then when you drink from the cup of His blessing, you drink His Blood, that is His life. After seeing Jesus when you drink your cup overflows with the sense of His presence pouring into you! The transfusion of His blood mingles and merges into your blood and quickens His life within you. (Romans 8:11) The Word of Life becomes our river of life that opens your ears to hear His Voice. Out of your belly flows rivers of living water. As you walk through the rest of your day you are overflowing with His goodness and mercy! You splash others with His goodness and mercy. His goodness draws others to Him and His mercy touches them with His healing and joy.

This will go on every time you have Communion until you arrive to live in the House of the Lord to sit at His Table at the Wedding Feast of the Lamb forever! Until then He prepares to share His life with you at His Table every time you sit down with Him. You will find this to become the most important time of each day and the most important meal. This is 'seeking first the Kingdom of God' because this is where you meet with the King!

When you have time here is another free book from CommunionFire Ministries. "The Bread of Life in CommunionFire" At the end of each book is always a page you can refer to wen having Communion at home or with others.
