 John 6 Part Two

25
When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?” 26 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27 Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”
28 Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”29 Jesus answered,

“The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

30 So they asked him, “What sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? 31 Our ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written: ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ” 32 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.  33 For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34“Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”

35 Then Jesus declared,

“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

36 But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. 37 All those the Father gives me will come to me, and

whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

38 For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. 40 For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

41 At this the Jews there began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How can he now say, ‘I came down from heaven’?”

43 “Stop grumbling among yourselves,” Jesus answered. 44 “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day.
45 It is written in the Prophets: ‘They will all be taught by God.’Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from him comes to me. 46 No one has seen the Father except the one who is from God; only he has seen the Father.

47 Very truly I tell you, the one who believes has eternal life. 48 I am the bread of life. 49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”

52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”

53 Jesus said to them,

“Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. 56 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. 57 Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. 58 This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate manna and died, but whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.” 59 He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.

60 On hearing it, many of his disciples said, “This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?” 61 Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before! 63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life. 64 Yet there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him. 65 He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.” 66 From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. 67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.

68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. 69 We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God.” 70 Then Jesus replied, “Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a devil!” 71 (He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was later to betray him.)

Behold!
The Lamb of God
Who takes Away the Sins of the World!

Jesus was the Lamb slain before the foundations of the world - it was the pre-determined counsel of God. Jesus, the Word of God, would become flesh and live as one of us. Because of the same jealousy of the murderous Cain, Israel and Rome condemned Jesus who went about doing good and healing all that were sick.

His death on the Cross became for us our Passover. The Lamb slain by man became the Lamb who would reign forever and ever. Communion was created by God for us to feed on the Lamb every day to receive all the blessings, love and life He wants us to become aware of. He wants to share His grace and glory with us. The oceans of His love send wave after wave of grace to pound upon our hearts. The more time we spend in the light of His glory, the clearer His Kingdom becomes and the more the light of this world dims.

The Lamb redeems us and transforms us. He replaces the temporal with the eternal. He reveals the hidden manna of His presence and in His presence all darkness is purged from our life. All toxins are purged by His healing. In His glory we are transformed from glory to glory.

Behold the Lamb of God Who takes away the sins of the world!

The Lamb of God

Was perhaps the first clothing after the fall to cover the sin of shame, guilt and condemnation.

Was the first sacrifice of faith by Abel and why his brother killed him.

Was the merciful provision of God for Abraham to replace Isaac on the same mountains where Jesus died on the Cross.

Was the annual sacrifice for the sins of Israel whose blood was sprinkled on the mercy seat on the Ark of the Covenant.

No animal could do what The Lamb of God, the Son of God could do as the final sacrifice for all sin for all time. Jesus alone was worthy to be the lamb that would satisfy the demand of death for sin.

In eternity, St. John tells us that Jesus is the Lamb in the Midst of the Throne of heaven that lights the entire Heavenly City of the New Jerusalem.

The Word Made Flesh is typified in:

The Manna in the Wilderness from Heaven
The Bread and Wine from Melchizzadek
The Passover Blood of the Lamb on the Exterior
The Passover Roasted Lamb inside the House
The Table of Shew bread in the Tabernacle
The Libation offering of the Wine
Jesus Proclaims He is The Bread of Life
Jesus said The Bread is His Body
Jesus said The Wine is His Blood
Jesus Said My Flesh and Blood are Real Food

If you eat and drink you have eternal life and Jesus will raise you up in the last day.

If you don't, you have no life in you.

The Key is His Blessing

Jesus Takes the Bread
Then Blesses It
Then Breaks It
Then Gives it to them

He did this in the feeding of the 5,000
He did this in the feeding of the 4,000
He did this at the Last Supper
He did this at the House at Emmaus
He did this when the Early Church had Communion from house to house
He does this now whenever we respond to His invitation to come and dine with Him at His Table.

Jesus revealed His glory for the first time and changed the Water to Wine at the wedding in Cana just as He changes the Bread to become his Flesh and the Wine to become His Blood in Communion. Through this natural meal we encounter His presence and glory. Like the blood of Abel that cried out from the ground, the Blood of Jesus contains His voice when we drink at His Table.

When Jesus 'blesses anything' something happens to its very nature.

The fish and the bread suddenly had the ability to multiply. The bread and wine become His flesh and blood. we don't just feed on bread and wine but we feed on the manifestation of His presence and receive eternal life.

That's why Jesus says to:
"Do This"
"In Remembrance" (as if to not forget)
"Of ME!"

It is there that the Holy Spirit leads us into all "truth". A better way to understand the word truth is to replace it with this phrase, "Reality of JESUS". Jesus = Truth. In Communion we are in His Reality. By Communion the Holy Spirit brings us into the real presence of JESUS! The reality of His presence is found at His Table. It is the centerpiece of His House, Domain and Kingdom. In effect the word "Truth" is knowing "The Reality of JESUS" in an ongoing personal way.

See what Jesus prophesied about when He was preaching to the miraculously-fed multitudes who followed Him to the synagogue in Capernaum.

He stood to preach and made about 17 declarations connecting eternal life, His Body and Blood to the tangible elements of Communion.  Basically He said we will encounter Him as we feed upon His presence just by doing what He asked when having Communion. (John 6:32-66)

Read each line as though you are among the multitudes and He is speaking just to you.

Pause and then read the next line.

1) Whoever comes to me will never go hungry

2) Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

3) You have seen me and still you do not believe

4) For this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.

5) For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in Him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.

6) “No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day."

7) I am the bread of life.

8) Here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die.

9) I am the living bread that came down from heaven.

10) Whoever eats this bread will live forever.

11) This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

12) I tell you the truth: unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

13) Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life,  and I will raise them up at the last day.

14) For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.

15) Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them.

16) Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.

17) Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever.”

On hearing it, many of his disciples said,

“This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?”

Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, “Does this offend you? Then what if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before!

The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing.

The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.Yet there are some of you who do not believe.”

For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him.  He went on to say, “This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled them.”

From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. (What about you? Do You Believe?) If not ask Jesus - He will give you the gift to believe and then all things will be possible to you!

Once we begin our relationship with JESUS it is by continually feeding on His presence through the bread His flesh and the drink His Blood that we are continue to receive His life by the Holy Spirit. By this we live lives sustained by Him. Communion brings us into His presence. We call that the CommunionFire.

16 hours ago I had Communion with my sweet wife Camille. When I drank from the cup of the Covenant I saw metallic spheres that when i pulled back became Orion's Belt. The Holy Spirit said to me, "Like Orion's Belt girds the heavens so My Belt of Truth girds you!"
